Your wife can't change her status because she is not currently maintaining status if the H-1B was approved as a change of status. CIS will only approve a change of status with proof that the applicant has maintained status. She needs to leave the US and return in H-4 status to effect H-4 status. She has been out of status since October 2008.

The problem is that in the past no one dared to file a complaint and thats why now it becomes his habit to threat every one for lay off and sending to India and exploiting the

My lawyers asked me to use the OPT number on all my forms where it asked for A# number of FileNumber ... I did not have a A# number on my I140

The AA battery holder is for LAST RESORT use only. It was never designed for continous use. If you did it would get very expensive very quickly.
You didn't say what kind of batteries. If they were Ni-Cads or NiMH, they only supply 1.2 volts. The D100 requires 1.5 volts.
Also, you might try mounting a newer AF lens to it just to see if its the older lens. Hopefully the lens you used isn't pre-1977. If so, you may have damaged the body.

You have to apply at HRDC office in the city nearest to where you land. HRDC is Human Resources Development Canada and they issue SIN CARDS. Google it.
Just make note that they are not open on Weekend. You can only apply for SIN on weekday.

NSC received my application July 2nd (concurrent filing 485/EAD/AP..)
1. When do the 90 days wait start counting? From July 2nd? (that would mean I should receive my EAD by 1st October.
2. I read walk in centers is a service not provided by USCIS anymore. However, cannot find conclusive information (many people say they still do). What will happen then after the 90 day period? How can I get my interim EAD if it does not arrive on time?

My attorney asked me to put A# as N/A. I assume, N/A is applicable to all h1b holders. Make sure, you write the correct I-94#, otherwise they might reject/send back your application because of improper information. I think, it is not appropriate to give A# from your OPT card.

Hello all:
I have few questions related to my travel plans to India. We will be leaving in January 2009.
We have our Advance Parole and EAD approved till 2009. I-485 is still pending . EB3 India.
My H1B visa stamp is not current or up-to-date on my passport. We have booked our flights with North-west airlines and KLM which will depart from Detroit-Amsterdam-Mumbai. I have few questions pertaining to my travel.
1) Would I still need to get a transit visa for Amsterdam, even though our flight will be halting for few may be 3-4 hours at Amsterdam- Schiphol Airport? If I do have to arrange for Amsterdam transit-visa, then where should I start as far as documentation is concerned.
2) Besides carrying my Passport, Advance parole copies with me, please advise me if I need to carry any more documentation from my end.
3) Would I need a copy of employment letter for visa purpose, or carrying my recent pay-stubs would be fine?
I would appreciate if you could please guide me with the travel related visa -requirements and documentation. Thanks!

Contact the federal elected representative in your employer's district. If they are not immigrant friendly, try the elected representative in your district (if different). There is a congressional liason inquiry process that can be leveraged to expedite your LC application. My application was pending for 8 months with no new status from DoL. I contacted my employer's congressman, explained the situation, and supplied a letter from my attorny, and my LC was approved within 3 weeks.

The only diff b/w these illegals vs legals is education. These illegals r uneducated and dont fear law and can go to any extent as opposed to legals who're well educated. At the same time, the Tri-valley situation brings to the fore the credibility of educated indians too!!! All those students came to US "legally" but started violating the law from the word GO by working at Gas stations, Mc Donalds etc...to make ends meet. Infact some even got in very well knowing that it was not completely legal as the guy from the university who was bringing ppl was a desi who worked for the university and forged fake documents for the students.
Overall, the Indian immigrant's image is at stake right now and this might lead to enforcing new laws against legal immigrants (read scrutiny, queries etc...)

I am scheduled to close my refinancing (changing from conventional to FHA). Quicken Loan processed my loan - of course their charges are a lot more than others. The point is, I did not face any objections so far due to EAD status. Of course they asked my EAD copy a few times. Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the links snathan. Is it possible to return to India at any stage of GreenCard processing and then come back to India once the EAD is approved.
It depends on your employer. If your employer supports and the job still available for you, yes...you can go to Indian and come back.
